Hello, my name is Jane, the owner of Boutique Farm Bothies here on Newton of Begshill Farm. Farming has been in my family for many years. I grew up on a dairy farm in Somerset and moved to the glorious Aberdeenshire countryside in 2011 when my family took over Newton of Begshill Farm and set to work in establishing our farm raising sheep, growing malting barley for whisky and creating the tastiest strawberries.
In 2014, I realised my dream of sharing our farm experience with vistors by inviting guests to come and experience our farm by staying at our original bothy, the Barley Bothy, located on the edge of one of our barley fields. From there my passion in bringing colourful agritourism to this corner of the North-East of Scotland began and Boutique Farm Bothies was established. Since then, we have brought more fun to our farm with the additions of the Sheep Shed, the Dairy at Denend and the Denend Farmhouse.
To say that Boutique Farm Bothies is a family business would be an understatement. My parents helped to build some of the properties at their construction business in Somerset and my two sons, Hector and Freddie can often be seen around the farm mucking in with various farm and bothy activities.
Our bespoke properties are thoughtfully designed to reflect the agricultural landscape they inhabit. We pour our hearts into creating spaces that are not only functional but also infused with personality, ensuring your stay is both enjoyable and memorable.
At Boutique Farm Bothies, our vision is to create spaces where people can come to reconnect whether it be with their friends and family or just themselves. We aim to provide an escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, offering the change to immerse yourself in nature rather than screens. Enjoy stargazing, playing cards, or curling up with a book by the crackling fire.. Slowing down with woodfired cooking and relaxing in the woodfired hot tubs.
We’re proud to have attracted attention from various media outlets. In 2014, George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces visited us to feature the Barley Bothy. The Sheep Shed was nominated for Shed of the Year in the eco-friendly category in 2017, and in 2023, the Dairy at Denend was featured by Worlds Most Secret Hotels.
We were honored to be visited by Maxim Nekliudov from the Granite Town Film Project in 2021. His film beautifully captures the story of Boutique Farm Bothies and our vision for agritourism in the North-East of Scotland.
